Steal Yield is multiplicative on the base rate, not added to it. +60% Yield is an 8% take, not a 65% one. There is no flat cash ceiling — the defender's protected floor is the only limiter.

How A Steal Is Calculated
Step
Formula
What it means
Attempted Base
held cash × 5%
Always a share of what they are carrying, never a fixed sum.
Attempted Theft
base × (1 + Yield)
Yield scales the 5% slice. All Yield sources are summed first, then applied once.
Protected Floor
cash snapshot × Protection
The defender's untouchable reserve. Capped at 75%.
Actual Theft
min(attempted, cash above floor)
You take the smaller of what you earned and what is exposed.
Worked Example
Defender holds $10,000,000 · attacker has +40% Yield · defender has 25% Protection.
Step
Working
Result
Attempted Base
$10,000,000 × 5%
$500,000
Attempted Theft
$500,000 × 1.40
$700,000
Protected Floor
$10,000,000 × 25%
$2,500,000
Exposed Cash
$10,000,000 − $2,500,000
$7,500,000
Actually Stolen
min($700,000, $7,500,000)
$700,000
Without any Yield the same attack would take $500,000. The +40% adds $200,000 — it scales the slice, it does not become the slice.

Steal Protection Sources

The Snapshot & Repeat Attacks
Protection measures against a snapshot of the defender's cash, not their live balance. The snapshot re-anchors when they next act, or whenever they hold more than it. While they are away, every attacker grinds against the same floor — so repeated hits cannot strip a protected player below it. A defender with no Protection has no snapshot taken at all.
Practical upshot: banking cash removes it from the calculation entirely, since only cash in hand is ever counted. Protection is an offline shield; the bank is the real one.
When Protection Actually Bites
Protection is a floor, not a discount. It never makes one attack take less. For that it would have to exceed 92.9% (even against the highest Yield in the game, +42%), and the cap is 75%. What Protection stops is being drained.
Defender holds $100,000,000 with 25% Protection and stays offline. Floor is $25,000,000.

Each hit takes its slice of whatever is left, so the take shrinks every time and the pile converges on the floor rather than emptying. Early hits look identical with or without Protection — the perk earns its keep only once a defender has been farmed for a long stretch. If you are awake and playing, the snapshot re-anchors as you act and Protection will not change a single fight.
