May 5 Update: More Family Slots, Rooms & Power
Bigger Families. Bigger Estates.
A meaningful expansion landed today — more room in the family, more rooms in the manor.
Family changes
Every family's member cap has been raised by +5 slots, taking the standard cap from 15 to 20. New families spawn at the higher cap, and existing families have already had the +5 applied automatically — no action needed from leadership.
The Expand Ranks perk has also been deepened. It now grants +2 slots per level (up from +1) and runs to level 10 (up from 5), with a properly extended cost curve. Families that already had levels in this perk have had the extra slots retroactively credited.
New family perks
Three additions to the perk tree, each ten-level scaling at +0.5% per level:
- Numbers Racket — Crime Cash. Helps the whole family stack paper from street work.
- Quickfoot Cartel — Combat Agility. Edge in attacks and defence.
- Steady Hand — Combat Dexterity. Better accuracy under pressure.
- Inside Job — Heist Stealth. Reduces catch chance on every heist your members run.
All four cap at +5.0% at level 10. Costs scale through the early millions and finish in the tens of millions per perk — a long-term family investment, not a quick buy.
Mansion expansion
Two new rooms unlock at Estate Level 3.
The Safehouse 🏚️
A discreet planning hub for heists. Boosts Heist Stealth — fewer of your scores end with cuffs.
The Smuggler's Tunnel 🚇
A hidden network of underground passages. Boosts Jailbreak Success — the rate at which you successfully bust allies out of jail.
A small note on the previous Gazette
If you missed it: chat got a Trading channel, longer message history (40 vs 20), gold-pulse notifications on the Families tab, and 48-hour retention. Blackjack had a thorough pass — mid-round seat lock, deal-blocking until everyone bets, a 15-second bet timer to keep tables moving, and players now keep their seats between rounds.
As always more to come.
