May 4 Update: Chat QoL & Blackjack Improvements
A few quality-of-life upgrades.
A bunch of small but meaningful improvements went live in the last hour, mostly around chat and the casino. Quick rundown:
Chat
Trading channel
A third chat tab is now live alongside Global and Families. Use it for buying, selling, swapping — anything trade-related.
See more history at a glance
Each chat now loads the last 40 messages when you open it, up from 20.
Families tab notifications
When a new message lands in your family chat whilst not in the tab, the Families tab will gently pulse gold with a small dot to let you know. The notification persists across page reloads until you actually open the tab.
Retention window
Chat messages now clear out after 48 hours rather than 12 hours. A small notice on the family chat reminds everyone of this — however, it applies across all chats.
Blackjack
The casino's been smoothed out considerably. A handful of nasty edge cases got fixed:
- Mid-round seat lock — you can no longer sit at a live table mid-hand. Wait for the next betting phase. This stops phantom-seat situations where you'd lose money to a round you couldn't play.
- Deal blocked until everyone has bet — if two players are seated and one tries to deal before the other has placed their bet, the deal is now blocked with a clear "Waiting on X to place bet" message. Nobody gets skipped.
- 15-second bet timer — once seated, you have 15 seconds to place a bet before being auto-kicked from your seat. Keeps the table moving, stops AFK seat-hogging especially with only a 3-player table — we're planning to expand into more Blackjack rooms as the game grows.
- You stay seated between rounds — players were being booted from their seat the moment a new betting phase started. Fixed: you now keep your seat until you choose to leave.
Coming over the next few hours
Bigger families
We'll be increasing the default family member cap for everyone — your family's cap will automatically go up, no action needed on your part. The upgrade cap is being raised too, and if you've already took upgrades, you'll get the additional capacity too.
New mansion perk: heist boost
A new mansion perk is rolling out alongside the family cap changes — a heist success chance bonus. We'll release this tonight but will likely land the news for it in the next Gazette.
