June 21 - Arena Fixes & Combat P1
Hey everyone!
We have some exciting new things for everyone today! We have Arena fixes (Yes we realize pulling nothing but fives is dookie, we have now corrected that and more.
Here's a quick rundown of what has changed with this patch to the arena:
- Each page should now contain a more diverse spread of targets (And bounties). This brings us closer to that "Pick your battles" mentality like we want.
- The issue where the threat judgement wasn't taking effect on passive players not interacting with the arena has been fixed, by using Fight Club data to fill in the gaps!
These changes should result in a smoother experience for all after the boss nerfs from last time.
Now for something a little more exciting - to me at least!
P1 Combat!
So as far as P1 Combat goes we've done a few things differently. Every point you gain in every stat should matter as bonuses are now on a curve instead of breakpoints. This required a bit of rethinking as to how interactions should happen in combat.
STR (Strength) rules Damage dealt + DEF Penetration DEF Penetration capped at 25%
DEF (Defence) rules Damage reduction + Block Chance Block and is capped at: Block 60% (+ perks)
AGI (Agility) rules Dodge Chance + First Strike Chance Dodge and is capped at: Dodge 60% (+ perks), First Strike 30%
DEX (Dexterity) rules Crit Chance + Crit Damage and is capped at: Crit 60% (+ perks), Crit Multiplier 2.5×
Now you may notice that AGI and DEX both have a second addition in the form of first strike and crit damage, respectively. These increases will scale to how much more of that stat you have than your opponent on top of your base Dodge and Crit chances, which do not scale on your opponent.
We've also added some unique interaction between STR and DEF late game in the form of STR Penetration which should allow DEF builds some competition late game rather than shutting everything down.
Seeing this, some of you may already be seeing where the Battle Pass items and further item reworks are headed. We are trying to plot similar power levels and costs to the existing items under the new system in order to preserve your progress - and power. I can confirm existing items are getting the P1 treatment as well, but more on that, crimes, careers, and more progression options for you late game players later this week, where we expect to provide an update as we are getting close to a complete P1 (Ruler and I can finally see the light!).
As far as arena goes, this should be it for sweeping changes to the system, from now it should really just be hotfixes between seasons as needed.
