I am unsure why this makes a difference, but Ive found that backspace does not work in any in game text box when using Microsoft Swiftkey Keyboard on Android. Only the built in Samsung Keyboard allows backspace.
Ive never encountered a text field that treated a keyboard differently.

This is still an issue btw, i use fossify keyboard and it was stated fixed in a patch notes but still doesnt work right across all fields
