The Shit Does The Title Mean
Some of you might be wondering "What the fuck do you mean Temporally Relative?" and for the purposes of this guide that means.... This is a newbie guide - but the time of it may not be quite in line with the current state of the game. This guide not only explains the functioning of current mechanics, but it also blends in explanations of upcoming content in those systems as an effort to give myself a little bit more time between rewrites of this thing. You should consider things absent from the current game world to be coming in the relatively near future as the nonexistent pieces of content discussed are slated for release within the next month or so. I apologize for any confusion this may cause but I hope this can prove to be a worthwhile help to everyone in both understanding the current state of the game and where we are going!

Crime: The Gateway Drug to Progression
What is Crime
One of the first things visible in the "Streets" Tab is "Crime Alley", the main home of your character progression. Crimes are the day to day activities that grow the money, equipment, influence and progress within the game world. These are performed with Nerve and cost most and more as one progresses. There are two kinds of crimes - Setup and Capstone. Setup crimes introduce you to the general theme of a family's activities in that location, while a Capstone usually represents a heftier activity of that family, and better opportunities for rewards of all kinds. In general, the first five are Setups and the last five are Captstones. By mastering all ten of a district you then unlock the opportunity to fight the district boss - Victory allows progression onward to the next district.
"My Character sucks at doing crime, what am I doing wrong?"
Careers, Bloodlines, Family Buffs, Estate Bonuses and Academy all contain increases to your Crime Success chance, and the absence of these is often why failure is experienced disproportionally as you go on without upgrading it. Without these upgrades you are left with very little option but to spend far too much Nerve, or the money on the consumables to compensate. Focus on these early, and to get started properly try getting your hands on items that boost your Crime Success rate temporarily to give you an edge on a new district or a new start on the game. Those items are:
-Burglar's Gloves = +10% Crime Success. Lasts 1 hour.
-Balaclava Kit = +20% Crime Success. Lasts 1 hour.
-Master Thief's Toolkit = +30% Crime Success. Lasts 1 hour.
Making More Money and Exp from Crimes
Crimes are considered part of Active Income, and therefore are affected by not only Crime Cash buffs but also Active Income buffs. There also exist a few items to help your yields:
-Street Tip-Off = +15% Crime Cash. Lasts 1 hour.
-Stolen Shipment = Your next 3 successful crimes pay +25% cash. Consumed after 3 uses.
-Black Market Intel = +35% crime cash on your next successful crime. Consumed after one crime.

In terms of exp the pool of effects is more limited but you do have consumable options:
-Crime Scholar's Tonic = +5% Player XP from crimes for 1 hour.
-Criminal's Handbook = +10% Crime XP. Lasts 1 hour.
What is Heat and how do I beat it?
Heat is how watchful people in the city are of you. If you commit many crimes in a row, people will expect you to be caught soon, and the police will grow antsy trying to lock their donut glaze lacquered teeth around your juggular. In those times you have two options; Have something go wrong, or pay them off. If you fail a crime, perception is that you'll lay low for a while afterwards, so the cops won't necessarily think of you when something happens. The other way is simple, you pay them enough to keep their eyes off your back, and your profits. The options and display for this are at the top of the Crimes menu.
"I want a get out of jail free card"
We do have a range of available items to prevent Jail outright as well:
-Don's Blessing = 10 minute immunity.
-Forged Permit = Dodge next jailing. No Timer.
-Getaway Plan = Next Crime cannot jail you, lasts 30 minutes
What is Instinct?
Instinct is a new replacement for what used to be Crime Mastery. Every point of Insight grows the yields in Cash/Exp/FRS, allow you greater odds at receiving loot from that crime, and expands your chances of receiving jackpot prizes. However Insight has a maximum of five levels per crime and is exclusive to Capstone crimes. For reaching level 5 Insight your character will gain 1 Instinct, a new stat that represents your level of "Knowing the city" through experience.
What does Instinct have to do with Crimes?
For every earnable point of Instinct there is an equal Circumstantial Crime, which demands that players have the correct Instinct level to see it in the first place. From there, these 50 new crimes are the source of materials for the new crafting system and the new status system.
Please keep in mind Insight and Instinct are slated for release this upcoming month.
