Welcome to the streets.
The Fifth Family is a browser-based mafia game. You start as a street thug with nothing and work up through crimes, fights, careers, heists, boss battles and family warfare. The city has ten districts, a hundred crimes, and several thousand other players — and almost everything that happens to you is another player's decision, not a script.
Follow the Underboss first
The tutorial isn't optional reading — it pays. There are 58 guided moments: 26 fire the first time you actually do something, and each one pays $30,000 on the spot. Open all 30 areas of the game and the completion pack lands: $250,000, 100 Mafia Gold, 50 Platinum, a full seven-slot gear set, 16 consumables, and Gino — a pet you cannot get any other way.

Do that before anything else. It's the best money in the game per minute spent.
Your four bars
  • Nerve — crimes, heists, extorting rackets.
  • Stamina — PvP, boss fights, Street Intel, street races.
  • Energy — Gym training and career shifts.
  • Vitality — your health. Losing fights empties it.
All four regenerate on their own. You are never stuck, only waiting — so spend them rather than hoarding them.
Crimes, and the thing that catches people out
Each of the ten districts holds ten crimes. Complete all 10 Downtown crimes to level 3 mastery and then defeat the boss to access The Strip. There onwards, it's level 5 mastery for each crime.

Then there's Heat, and this is what new players learn the hard way:
  • Every successful crime adds Heat, up to 100.
  • Heat raises your payouts. Higher risk, but higher pay outs.
  • Heat lowers your success chance by 0.15% per point, and lengthens any jail sentence you pick up.
  • At 90 Heat you cannot commit crimes at all until it comes down, you can bribe the cops to clear it whenever you like.
It decays 1 point every 10 minutes, or you can bribe it off at $500 a point. Running hot is a deliberate gamble, not a mistake — but know which one you're making.
Three currencies
  • Cash — almost everything has a price. Earn it in many places - spend it everywhere.
  • Mafia Gold — premium, but earned free: PvP wins, boss kills, every completed heist, selling loot to The Fence, Syndicate missions, Battle Pass tiers, the Wheel.
  • Platinum — bought with real money. Nothing in the game is locked behind it.

What to do in your first week
  • Run crimes in Downtown and watch your Heat. Back off before 90 or clear it.
  • Join a Family. Family HQ, Family upgrades to help your journey, family chat and people who'll come after whoever hit you. Reply to a post in Family Recruitment, message the Don or ask in global chat/discord — somebody will take you or be brave and start your own.
  • Train at the Gym properly. 40 activities, ten tiers per stat. All regimens can be finitely trained but the cost & time rises as you get stronger.
  • Pick a career. Shift work pays while you're doing other things.
  • Read Strategy & Guides before you ask. Players further along have already written most of it down.
Jail is part of the game, not a punishment — failed crimes put you there. Wait it out, pay bail, or bribe the guard. You can also "Get Rowdy" and start a riot with other in-mates to escape.
The rules
No cheating. No exploiting. No harassing other players.

Break them and you answer to the administration. There are no second warnings for serious violations.

Everything else is fair game. Robbing, ambushing, betraying and burning a rival family is the game being played correctly. Going after a real person is not, and staff can tell the difference.
Where to post
  • Bug Reports — we read every one.
  • Suggestions — a lot of what's now in the game started there.
  • Family Recruitment — looking for a crew, or looking for members.
  • Strategy & Guides — the good stuff.
  • General — everything else.
Full mechanics are in the Wiki, Game Manual & FAQ — crimes, combat maths, heists, smuggling, the Academy's 114 courses, all of it.
Now get out there and make a name for yourself.
